Ready, Steady...Read! is Usborne's simple sponsored reading event that encourages reading at home and at school.
The more money raised, the more cash or books the school will receive.

How does Ready, Steady...Read! work?
Students are sponsored to read (or be read to) as much as they can in a given time - term time, school holidays, a 2 week period, a 24 hour race - the choice is yours.
Reading can include books, comics, magazines, newspapers, menus, recipes, poems, leaflets, instructions, signs - anything with words!
We provide all the paperwork for the fundraiser, and the sponsorship money can go towards new books for the school, for the library, for students themselves, or a combination of cash and books....you choose.
Who can participate?
Any orgainized group of children - schools, individual classrooms, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, preschools, church groups, and home school groups.
1. BOOK & READING BONANZA - 100% of the sponsorship dollars will purchase books from the current Usborne catalogue.
* 50% in books to participating students
* 50% in books to classrooms, library and/or incentives for children.
* Additional 8% in books
plus pay NO GST when sponsorship dollars
total $500 or more.
2. FUND RAISER PROGRAM - 100%
of the sponsorship dollars is
given to the organization in the form of cash and books from the
Usborne catalogue.
* 30% in cash is given to the organization
* 50% in books is given to the students with pledges
* 20% in books to the classrooms, library and/or incentives for children.
* Additional 8% in books
plus pay NO GST when sponsorship dollars total $500 or
more.
Fun, Flexible, and Hassle-free!
Your Usborne Consultant, will be happy to come to your school, library or organization and discuss with you, your individual requirements, and arrange the entire sponsored read.
Your consultant will hold an assembly for the school, classrooms, etc to explain in detail how the sponsored read works, as well as show casing books to generate excitement. (She might even dress up as a book fairy!)
All paper work will be given, any incentives (such as a pizza lunch) will be orgainized, as well as the arrangement of ordering books, and receiving them. The only help required from the orgainization is the publicity of the event within the school, community, as well as a helper to count the money...that's it! Everything else is done for you, making this a very hassle-free event.
